- 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large flour tortillas (8-inch size)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- Optional: powdered sugar, fresh mint, vanilla yogurt, maple syrup for serving
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for 8–10 minutes until the apples are tender and caramelized.
- In a separate bowl, mix softened cream cheese with maple syrup or honey until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over one half of each tortilla. Top with the cooked apples and fold to seal.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Toast the folded quesadillas for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crisp.
- Slice into wedges and serve warm with optional toppings.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven for best results.
