Description

A delightful breakfast treat combining spiced apples, creamy cheese, and crispy tortillas, perfect for busy mornings or cozy brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large flour tortillas (8-inch size)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • Optional: powdered sugar, fresh mint, vanilla yogurt, maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for 8–10 minutes until the apples are tender and caramelized.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix softened cream cheese with maple syrup or honey until smooth.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture over one half of each tortilla. Top with the cooked apples and fold to seal.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Toast the folded quesadillas for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crisp.
  5. Slice into wedges and serve warm with optional toppings.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven for best results.
