Description
A delightful blend of sweet apples and tangy cranberries with gooey cheddar cheese on crispy sourdough bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 slices sourdough bread (thick)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 medium Granny Smith apple (thinly sliced)
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- Begin by thinly slicing the Granny Smith apple and gather all your ingredients.
- Generously butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer half the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, followed by apple slices and dried cranberries. Top with remaining cheese and cover with the other slice of bread, buttered side facing up.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Grill the sandwich for about 3-5 minutes until golden brown, then flip and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until crispy and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, let cool for a minute, and slice diagonally before serving.
Notes
Experiment with different cheeses like Gruyère or Brie for a richer flavor. Consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the apple slices for a warm spice aroma.
