A delightful dessert that merges the comforting flavors of apple fritters with a soft cake, topped with a delicious maple glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan well to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing them well.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the diced apples gently to avoid breaking them apart.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before drizzling the glaze.
- For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake before slicing and serving.
