Description

A comforting homemade apple pie topped with a delicious crumb topping, blending sweet and tart flavors for a satisfying dessert.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and half of the brown sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Roll out your pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and trim any excess dough for a neat finish.
  4. Mix flour, oats, remaining brown sugar, and cold butter until crumbly.
  5. Pour the apple filling into the pie crust and sprinkle with crumb topping.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F and then lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue to bake for another 30-35 minutes.
  7. Cool the pie for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months.
