- 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and half of the brown sugar in a large bowl.
- Roll out your pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and trim any excess dough for a neat finish.
- Mix flour, oats, remaining brown sugar, and cold butter until crumbly.
- Pour the apple filling into the pie crust and sprinkle with crumb topping.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F and then lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue to bake for another 30-35 minutes.
- Cool the pie for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months.
