Description

A delightful cake topped with caramelized apples, combining sweet and slightly tart flavors with a hint of cinnamon.


Ingredients

  • 3 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the brown sugar, stirring until bubbly. Introduce the sliced apples and cook until just tender, about 5 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared cake pan, spreading it out evenly. Then pour the batter over the apples.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool for a few minutes, then invert onto a serving plate to reveal the apples on top. Serve warm or cold.
