Description
A delightful dish that perfectly balances sweet and savory flavors with a rich balsamic fig glaze over tender chicken breasts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (approximately 1.5 lbs)
- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup figs, sliced or chopped (fresh or dried)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the Chicken: Start by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove and let it rest.
- Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Make the Glaze: Add balsamic vinegar, figs, and honey to the skillet and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
- Coat the Chicken: Return chicken to the skillet and coat thoroughly with the glaze. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Let it Rest: Allow the dish to rest before serving, garnishing with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in balsamic vinegar ahead of time. If figs are unavailable, dried apricots or cherries can be substituted.
