Description

A hearty Beef Pasta in Tomato Sauce made with ground beef, a rich tomato base, garlic, herbs, and Parmesan, perfect for cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

250g (8 oz) pasta (spaghetti, penne, or rigatoni)

1 lb ground beef (80-85% lean)

2 cups crushed tomatoes (or diced fresh tomatoes)

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 medium onion (chopped)

3 cloves garlic (minced)

2 tbsp olive oil

1/2 cup beef broth (or red wine)

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper to taste

Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

1. Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water and set aside.

2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until translucent.

3. Stir in garlic and cook briefly, then add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking up lumps.

4. Mix in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.

5. Add beef broth (or wine) and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Drain pasta and add it directly to the skillet. Toss to coat with sauce, adding reserved pasta water if needed.

7. Top with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil before serving.

Notes

You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.

For extra richness, add a splash of cream or mascarpone cheese just before serving.

This sauce also works well for baked pasta dishes with mozzarella on top.
