Description

A fresh and tasty salad that combines the classic flavors of a BLT sandwich without the fuss. A delightful mix of crispy bacon, ripe tomatoes, crunchy lettuce, and creamy dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 strips of turkey bacon, chopped and cooked
  • 4 cups Romaine lettuce, chopped (about 2 heads)
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup Jack cheese, grated
  • 2 cups croutons
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 green onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, smashed and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Pinch of sea salt and cracked pepper
  • 2 cups day-old French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 11/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Make the Dressing: Blend all the dressing ingredients (mayonnaise, green onion, garlic, dill, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and water) in a blender until smooth.
  2. Prepare the Croutons: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Toss the day-old bread cubes with olive oil and garlic powder on a cookie sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until golden brown, turning them halfway.
  3. Cook the Bacon: In a skillet, heat the olive oil and fry the chopped turkey bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Combine the Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the Romaine lettuce, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, Jack cheese, sliced tomatoes, and croutons, then toss well.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Drizzle the ranch dressing over the salad just before serving and season with freshly cracked pepper.

Notes

Crispiness Matters: Use slightly stale bread for croutons for the best texture. Feel free to switch bacon for tempeh or mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
