- 4 cups frozen shredded hash browns, thawed and squeezed dry
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage or bacon (optional; use plant-based for vegetarian)
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a 12-inch ovenproof skillet or pizza pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, melted butter, salt, and black pepper.
- Press the hash brown mixture into the prepared pan to form a crust.
- Bake the crust for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and add cheese, sausage or bacon, bell pepper, and green onions on top.
- Create four shallow depressions and crack an egg into each one. Season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 to 12 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 3 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a crispy crust, ensure the hash browns are properly dried before pressing into the pan.
