Description

A delightful twist on the classic Rice Krispie treat with a rich, nutty flavor profile and a hint of caramel sweetness. Perfect for parties, snacks, or as a sweet finish to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10 cups mini marshmallows (divided)
  • 6 cups cinnamon sugar Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 can dulce de leche

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Start by spraying a 9×9-inch baking pan with non-stick spray. Line it with foil or parchment paper for easy removal later.
  2. Brown the Butter: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter until it turns golden brown, stirring frequently.
  3. Melt the Marshmallows: Remove the browned butter from heat. Add the sea salt and 8 cups of mini marshmallows, stirring until melted and smooth.
  4. Flavor It Up: Stir in the vanilla extract to add warmth to the melted marshmallow mixture.
  5. Combine with Cereal: Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the Rice Krispies cereal in a separate bowl. Mix until evenly coated.
  6. Add Texture: Fold in the remaining mini marshmallows while the mixture is still warm.
  7. Layer with Dulce de Leche: Press half of the mixture into the prepared pan. Spread the dulce de leche over it, then top with the remaining mixture and press lightly.
  8. Cool and Slice: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature, then lift them out and slice into bars.

Notes

For best results, use fresh marshmallows and allow the treats to cool completely before slicing.
