Description

A warm and comforting caramel apple spice cake filled with the flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, and fresh apples, drizzled with rich caramel sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups chopped fresh apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

Room temperature ingredients help achieve a smoother batter. Don’t overmix when combining ingredients for a fluffier cake.
