- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups chopped fresh apples (such as Granny Smith)
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped apples.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
Room temperature ingredients help achieve a smoother batter. Don’t overmix when combining ingredients for a fluffier cake.
