- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 can (21 oz) Cherry pie filling
- 1 cup Powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons Milk
- 1/2 teaspoon Almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add in the salt and vanilla extract, then gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Press three-quarters of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Evenly spread the cherry pie filling over the dough.
- Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the cherry filling.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract for the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cherry pie bars, slice, and serve.
Notes
Use fresh cherries for a homemade filling. Chilling the dough can enhance texture.
