Description

A beloved dish featuring tender marinated chicken in a creamy, spiced tomato sauce, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cubed
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, paprika, garam masala, turmeric, garlic, and ginger. Add chicken and mix well. Marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions until golden brown.
  3. Add marinated chicken to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until chicken is cooked through.
  4. Stir in tomato puree and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Gradually stir in heavy cream and season with salt, cooking for another 5 minutes over low heat.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, marinate chicken overnight. Substitute heavy cream with coconut milk for a lighter version.
