- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cherry filling
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the cherry filling over the dough.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, almond extract, and enough milk to reach a smooth glazing consistency.
- Once the bars are cool, drizzle the glaze over the top.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature butter and avoid overmixing the dough.
