- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for cinnamon-sugar coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples gently until evenly distributed.
- In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and sugar for the coating.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
- Place the cookie dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
- Remove from oven and cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Chill the dough for thicker cookies and use firm apples for best results.
