Description

Deliciously seasoned green beans enhanced with crispy bacon, garlic, and a hint of heat, making it an irresistible side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the fresh green beans thoroughly and trim the ends.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet, and drain excess grease on a paper towel.
  4. Add the trimmed green beans to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes until they start to soften.
  5. Add the butter, then stir in the minced garlic, onion powder, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Season the green beans with salt and pepper, cooking until they reach desired tenderness, about another 3-5 minutes.
  7. Return the crispy bacon to the skillet and toss to combine.
  8. Optional: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top, allowing it to melt slightly.
  9. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute bacon with smoked tempeh or coconut bacon and use olive oil instead of butter.
