Description
A comforting dish of tender penne pasta enveloped in a rich sauce made from ground beef, garlic, and heavy cream, topped with grated Parmesan.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tsp olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Cook the penne according to package instructions until al dente. Save about 1 cup of the pasta water before draining.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic for about 5 minutes, until fragrant and translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks for about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Gradually add the reserved pasta water until the desired sauce consistency is reached. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Combine the cooked penne with the sauce in the skillet, tossing gently to coat the pasta evenly.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Use lean ground beef for a rich but not greasy dish. Reserve pasta water for a creamy sauce consistency. Customize by adding vegetables or using ground turkey.
