Description
A delightful pasta dish combining rich creaminess with the bold and spicy flavors of Cajun cuisine, perfect for a cozy dinner for two.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 oz linguine pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in the chicken broth and let it simmer for a minute. Then, add the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly. If it gets too thick, you can add a little reserved pasta water.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, then add the drained linguine and Parmesan cheese. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated in the creamy sauce. Adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or Cajun seasoning if necessary.
- Plate the linguine and sprinkle with chopped parsley for a fresh finish. Enjoy your creamy Cajun linguine immediately!
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a plant-based cream alternative. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
