Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 ½ cups Gruyère cheese, grated
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, for greasing and layering
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Thinly slice the Yukon Gold potatoes to about 1/8 inch thick.
- In a bowl, blend the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and optional thyme.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with half of the Gruyère cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Allow the dish to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use Yukon Gold potatoes for best results and grate your own cheese for optimal melting. Let the dish rest before serving to allow flavors to settle.
