Description
A classic creamy green bean casserole topped with crispy fried onions, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (10.5 ounce) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 4 cups cut green beans
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 ⅓ cups crispy French fried onions
Instructions
- Prepare the green beans: wash, trim, and cut fresh beans into bite-sized pieces. Blanch fresh beans in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain. Drain canned beans, and thaw and drain frozen beans.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. Stir in the prepared green beans, ⅔ cup of crispy fried onions, and black pepper until evenly mixed.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch casserole dish. Transfer the green bean mixture into the dish and spread evenly. Bake for about 25 minutes until hot and bubbling.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and stir gently. Top with remaining French fried onions and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the onions are golden brown and crispy.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Customize the topping by mixing parmesan cheese with the fried onions, or add spices for extra kick.
