Description
This Garlic Parmesan Focaccia Bread combines a crispy exterior with a soft, flavorful interior, bursting with savory goodness from garlic and nutty richness from Parmesan.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1¾ cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- ¼ cup olive oil (plus more for greasing and drizzling)
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or thyme (optional, for garnish)
- Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Proof the yeast by combining warm water and sugar, sprinkle yeast over it, and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in flour, kosher salt, and olive oil to form a sticky dough. Cover and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours.
- Prepare toppings: mince garlic, grate Parmesan, and chop fresh herbs. Grease a baking pan with olive oil, then transfer and stretch the dough to fill.
- Dimple the dough and add toppings: press indentations into the dough, sprinkle minced garlic, grated Parmesan, herbs, and flaky sea salt.
- Let rise for another 20-30 minutes. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Make sure to proof your yeast and use plenty of olive oil for best texture and flavor. Experiment with toppings like sun-dried tomatoes or olives for variety.
