Description
This Crispy Chilli Chicken recipe features golden fried chicken coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, perfect for dinner or as an appetizer.
Ingredients
500g boneless chicken thighs (cut into chunks)
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 egg whites
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp chili paste (adjust to taste)
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1/2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp oil (for sauce)
Oil for frying
1/4 cup sliced bell peppers (optional)
2 tbsp chopped scallions (for garnish)
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
1. Cut chicken into small pieces and marinate with soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for 20 minutes.
2. In a bowl, mix cornstarch and all-purpose flour. Coat marinated chicken with this dry mix.
3. Heat oil in a wok or deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken in small batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
4. In a separate pan, heat oil, then sauté garlic and ginger. Add chili paste, soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar. Stir well.
5. Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss quickly until evenly coated.
6. Garnish with chopped scallions, sesame seeds, and sliced bell peppers.
7. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
Double fry the chicken for extra crispiness if desired.
Adjust the chili paste to control the spice level.
Keep the sauce light to preserve the crunch of the chicken.
