Description

A warm and inviting bread with a sweet spice blend of cinnamon and nutmeg, filled with dried fruits and nuts, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup dried fruits (such as raisins, cranberries, or apricots)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla to the yeast mixture and mix thoroughly.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Fold in dried fruits and nuts.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Punch down the risen dough and shape into a loaf, then place in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

Ensure to use warm milk to activate the yeast properly. Customize mix-ins to family preferences.
