Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 6 ounces semi-sweet or milk chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup festive sprinkles
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and fine sea salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a uniform dough forms.
- Pinch off about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a 6-inch rope, then shape into a pretzel.
- Place shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheets with 2 inches between each.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden, then cool on the tray for 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack.
- Melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth.
- Dip half of each cookie into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
- Return to parchment paper, sprinkle with festive sprinkles and flaky sea salt if desired.
- Allow chocolate to set before serving or storing in an airtight container.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough if it’s too soft. These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
