Description

Tender beef roast served on French rolls, dipped in rich broth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef roast (chuck or brisket)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • French rolls or hoagie buns
  • Optional: Swiss cheese, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, place the beef roast, sliced onion, and minced garlic.
  2. Pour in the beef broth and add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender.
  4. Once cooked, remove the beef and shred it with two forks.
  5. Strain the broth, if desired, for a clearer jus.
  6. Serve the shredded beef on French rolls, topped with optional Swiss cheese, and dip in the reserved jus.

Notes

Use a good quality beef roast for the best flavor. Let the beef rest for a few minutes before shredding to keep it juicy.
