Description

A delightful twist on classic sloppy joes featuring juicy, caramelized onions paired with seasoned ground beef, all in a soft hamburger bun topped with melted Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, stirring frequently (about 15-20 minutes).
  2. In another pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks, and drain excess fat.
  3. Add caramelized onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the ground beef. Mix well and heat through.
  4. Serve the beef mixture on hamburger buns and top with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  5. Optionally, broil the sandwiches for a couple of minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Caramelizing onions takes time for the best flavor; be patient. Adjust seasoning according to taste.
