Description
A delightful twist on classic sloppy joes featuring juicy, caramelized onions paired with seasoned ground beef, all in a soft hamburger bun topped with melted Swiss cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, stirring frequently (about 15-20 minutes).
- In another pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks, and drain excess fat.
- Add caramelized onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the ground beef. Mix well and heat through.
- Serve the beef mixture on hamburger buns and top with a slice of Swiss cheese.
- Optionally, broil the sandwiches for a couple of minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
Caramelizing onions takes time for the best flavor; be patient. Adjust seasoning according to taste.
