Description
A delightful dish combining tender chicken, vibrant broccoli, and a rich garlic butter sauce that’s mouthwatering and nutritious.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces and season with salt and pepper. Sauté for about 5-6 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked. Once done, remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
- Cook the Broccoli: In the same skillet, add 1/4 cup water along with the broccoli florets. Cover the skillet and steam the broccoli for 2-3 minutes until it turns bright green and is crisp-tender. Be sure to discard any excess water after steaming.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: Lower the heat to medium-low and melt the butter in the pan. Stir in the minced garlic and cook it for about 30 seconds, or until it becomes aromatic. This will infuse the butter with a lovely garlic flavor.
- Combine Ingredients: Add soy sauce, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat. Mix well to combine all the flavors. Then, return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss it thoroughly in the garlic butter sauce, cooking for another 1-2 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Finish with Broccoli: Gently fold in the steamed broccoli until it’s well-coated in the sauce. This step ensures each bite is packed with flavor.
- Serve and Garnish: Remove the skillet from the heat. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped parsley on top before serving. Enjoy the dish warm on its own or pair it with rice, pasta, or even cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
Notes
Adjust flavors by adding a splash of honey for a touch of sweetness or some lime juice for a different citrus note. Garlic timing is key to avoid bitterness.
