Description

A delightful side dish combining crisp green beans and earthy mushrooms in rich garlic butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Green Beans: Trim the ends off the green beans and rinse them under cold water.
  2. Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until the butter melts.
  3. Sauté the Garlic: Add minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Cook the Mushrooms: Add sliced mushrooms and cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned and soft.
  5. Add the Green Beans: Add the green beans, seasoning with salt and pepper, and stir to combine.
  6. Cover to Cook: Cover the skillet and let the green beans steam for around 5-7 minutes.
  7. Finish with Butter and Lemon: Remove the lid, add the final tablespoon of butter, stir until melted, and add lemon juice.
  8. Serve: Transfer the green beans and mushrooms to a serving dish and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

Ensure the beans stay tender yet crisp by monitoring the cooking time. Feel free to substitute with plant-based butter for a vegan version.
