Description

A deliciously simple side dish that combines fresh green beans and earthy mushrooms in a rich garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends off the green beans and rinse them thoroughly under cold water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until melted and sizzling.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Toss in the sliced mushrooms and cook for 4-5 minutes until browned and softened.
  5. Add the prepared green beans, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste, and stir to combine.
  6. Cover the skillet and steam the green beans for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove the lid, add the remaining tablespoon of butter, and stir until melted.
  8. Finish with a splash of lemon juice and garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute the butter with plant-based alternatives. You may also add crushed red pepper for heat or Parmesan cheese for richness.
