Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until combined. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
  7. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled gingerbread bars, slice, and serve.
