- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg

- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until combined. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla; mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled gingerbread bars, slice, and serve.
Notes
For a festive touch, consider garnishing the bars with crushed pecans or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
