Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the molasses and egg until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and place them on a lined baking sheet. Flatten them slightly.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until they are just firm.
  8. Let them cool before decorating if desired.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened for easier mixing and don’t over-bake the cookies.
