Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, spices, salt, and baking soda until well combined.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy and light in color.
  4. Add in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well incorporated and smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, combining until just mixed—avoid overmixing.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll each ball in powdered sugar, coating them generously.
  7. Place the coated balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until they start to crack on the top. Let them cool on a wire rack afterward.

Notes

Don’t overmix the dough. Chill the dough if it’s too sticky. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
