- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×9-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- In a large bowl, whisk the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, vegetable oil, molasses, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips, saving a handful to sprinkle on top.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top, and bake for 23 to 27 minutes.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 16 squares.
Notes
Use fresh spices for enhanced flavor, and consider chilling the bars to make cutting easier.
