Description

A delightful gluten-free version of orange chicken that combines crispy chicken with a zesty orange sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3/4 cup gluten-free flour blend
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying (about 2 cups)
  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or tapioca starch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and pat them dry.
  2. Coating the Chicken: Dip each piece into the beaten eggs, then coat with gluten-free flour.
  3. Frying the Chicken: Heat oil to 350-375°F and fry the chicken for 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Making the Sauce: In a saucepan, combine orange juice, zest, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger; heat and mix in cornstarch slurry to thicken.
  5. Combining Chicken and Sauce: Pour the sauce over the fried chicken and toss to coat. Serve immediately.
