- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until the onion becomes translucent.
- Sprinkle in flour and stir to coat the meat and vegetables.
- Pour in beef broth, add thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes to thicken.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and melted butter to make a soft dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough onto the simmering beef mixture.
- Cover and let steam for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid while cooking.
- Remove the bay leaf, sprinkle fresh parsley on top, and serve hot.
