This Hawaiian Roll French Toast is soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet. Perfect for a cozy weekend breakfast or a brunch showstopper.
Ingredients
12 Hawaiian rolls
3 large eggs
1 cup whole milk or heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp granulated sugar (optional)
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
Fresh berries for garnish
Maple syrup for serving
Powdered sugar for topping
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and optional nutmeg until smooth.
2. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half or leave whole if preferred.
3. Dip each roll into the egg mixture, ensuring a quick, even coat to prevent sogginess.
4. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt butter.
5. Cook the dipped rolls for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and caramelized.
6. Transfer to a serving plate, sprinkle powdered sugar, and garnish with fresh berries.
7. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve warm.
Notes
Use day-old Hawaiian rolls for better absorption and less risk of sogginess.
Try adding a splash of coconut milk or orange zest to the custard for a tropical twist.
Serve with crispy bacon or a smoothie for a complete brunch.
