Description
Boston Cream Pie is a delightful dessert featuring rich custard filling, moist vanilla cake, and a luscious chocolate glaze. It’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter and dust them with flour.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract afterwards.
- Whisk together the flour and corn starch. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in the pans for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- For the custard filling, heat the milk with cornstarch in a saucepan. Stir constantly for 5-7 minutes until thickened, then stir in butter and vanilla until smooth and allow to cool.
- For the chocolate glaze, melt heavy cream with the chocolate chips until smooth. Drizzle over the assembled cake.
Notes
Use softened butter for a light cake and ensure cakes cool completely before assembly.
