Description
A comforting dish of tender chicken in savory broth with fluffy dumplings that melt in your mouth.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup diced vegetables (carrots, celery, onions)
- 1 tsp herbs (thyme or parsley)
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat. Add the diced vegetables and cook until tender (5-7 minutes).
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and egg, then fold into the dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling batter into the simmering broth and cover. Cook for about 10 minutes until dumplings puff up.
- Add the shredded chicken to the pot and season with herbs. Stir gently.
- Ladle the chicken and dumplings into bowls and serve warm.
Notes
Use homemade broth for enhanced flavor. Avoid over-mixing the dumpling batter for fluffiness.
