- 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add the cubed sweet potatoes.
- Reduce heat to medium and cook for 15-20 minutes, until tender.
- Drain the sweet potatoes and transfer back to the pot.
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat and stir in honey until combined; remove from heat.
- Mash the sweet potatoes until smooth.
- Gradually mix in the milk and the butter-honey mixture, along with salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and black pepper. Continue mashing until creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with butter or honey if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
Experiment with flavors by adding roasted garlic, or for a vegan option, use coconut oil and maple syrup instead of butter and honey.
