Description
Honey garlic shrimp is a quick and flavorful dish made with juicy shrimp glazed in a sweet and garlicky sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tbsp honey
2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
2–3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil
1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
1 tbsp water (to mix with cornstarch)
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Chopped scallions or sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Pat shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
2. In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes. If using cornstarch, stir it into water and add to the sauce.
3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and slightly golden.
4. Pour sauce into the skillet. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens and coats the shrimp.
5. Garnish with scallions or sesame seeds and serve hot over rice, noodles, or vegetables.
Notes
To make it spicier, add hot honey or sriracha to the sauce.
This dish pairs beautifully with coconut rice, stir-fried vegetables, or a cucumber slaw.
Use tamari or coconut aminos to make it gluten-free.
