- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- ½ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prepare the hot honey sauce by mixing honey, hot sauce, butter, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan over medium heat until smooth. Set aside to cool.
- Rinse shrimp under cold water, pat them dry, and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create the coating.
- In a separate bowl, beat eggs with milk.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Dredge shrimp in the flour mixture, dip in the egg mixture, then back into the flour mixture.
- Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Toss fried shrimp in the hot honey sauce before serving.
- Serve immediately with extra sauce on the side.
Notes
For best results, do not overcrowd the frying pan to maintain oil temperature. Use fresh shrimp for optimal texture.
