Description

Crispy fried shrimp coated in a sweet-spicy hot honey sauce, perfect for appetizers or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Hot Honey Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the honey, hot sauce, butter, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp, pat them dry, and set aside.
  3. Make Your Coating: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Egg Mixture: In another bowl, beat together the eggs and milk.
  5. Heat Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Coat the Shrimp: Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and coat again with flour.
  7. Fry the Shrimp: Fry shrimp for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Toss in Sauce: Toss fried shrimp in the hot honey sauce until coated. Serve with extra sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor. Adjust spice levels by changing the amount of hot sauce and red pepper flakes.
