- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, softened butter, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until crumbly.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Toss the chopped apples with the remaining sugar and cinnamon, and spread evenly over the crust.
- Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples.
- Crumble the remaining mixture on top of the apples and caramel.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
Notes
Choose firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results. Allow bars to cool for easier cutting.
