Ingredients

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ cup Christmas-colored sprinkles
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons buttermilk (plus more if needed)
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • Christmas-colored nonpareils (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and almond extract.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently and fold in the Christmas-colored sprinkles.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 45-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons buttermilk, and corn syrup, then drizzle over the cooled bread and top with nonpareils.
  8. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
