Description
Delicious and satisfying crispy fried chicken with a crunchy coating and tender meat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 bone-in chicken pieces (wings, thighs, or breasts)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable or peanut oil for frying
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, mix buttermilk with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Add chicken pieces, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Prepare the Breading Station: In another bowl, combine flour and cornstarch with remaining spices.
- Bread the Chicken: Dredge marinated chicken in the flour mixture until well coated; shake off excess flour.
- Heat the Oil: Pour oil into a deep skillet to cover about 1 inch deep. Heat over medium-high until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry Until Golden Brown: Carefully add chicken pieces without overcrowding. Fry for about 12-15 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain and Serve: Transfer fried chicken to paper towels to absorb excess oil before serving.
Notes
Let the chicken marinate overnight for the best flavor. Use a thermometer to check oil temperature.
