Description

A refreshing twist on the traditional tiramisu, this Lemon Limoncello version features zesty lemon flavors combined with a rich mascarpone cream, perfect for summer gatherings or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 5–6 lemons)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup limoncello
  • Zest from 2 lemons
  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp limoncello
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 24–30 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • Extra lemon zest for garnish
  • Thin lemon slices (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Lemon Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine fresh lemon juice, granulated sugar, and limoncello. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  2. Make the Mascarpone Cream: In a large bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of limoncello, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the mixture becomes thick and creamy, forming soft peaks.
  3. Assemble Tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled lemon syrup—just enough to soak without becoming soggy. Lay half of the dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers, then repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  4. Chill: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes, but overnight is best.
  5. Serve: Before serving, garnish with extra lemon zest, thin lemon slices, and fresh mint leaves. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

Use fresh lemons for optimal flavor and allow the tiramisu to chill overnight for best results.
