Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, and milk. Stir until well blended.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mix to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish without stirring.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix lemon juice and lemon zest, then pour this mixture over the batter without stirring.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving, and optionally dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Use fresh lemons for the best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter for a fluffy texture.
