Description
A delightful spread that blends the savory richness of bacon with the sweetness of maple syrup and a hint of bourbon, perfect for toast and cheese boards.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb bacon, chopped
- 1 cup maple syrup
- ½ cup bourbon
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove the bacon and add the onions to the bacon fat in the pan; cook until softened, about 5 minutes, then add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the crispy bacon back to the skillet with maple syrup, bourbon, and apple cider vinegar; stir well.
- Simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens.
- For a smoother texture, blend with an immersion blender or in a blender cautiously.
- Add salt and pepper to taste and let cool before transferring to a jar for storage.
Notes
For a chunkier jam, blend less; for a smoother texture, blend longer. Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
