Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups chili (prepared)
- Shredded cheese (for topping)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water, and let it sit until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt together.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the risen dough, then shape it into small bowls (cut them in half if needed).
- Place the bowls on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Once baked, remove the tops, fill them with chili, and top with cheese and green onions.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Make sure your water is warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast. If using store-bought chili, it works well too. Let the bread cool slightly before serving to help keep the filling in.
