Description

A delightful one-pan dish combining savory Italian sausage, fresh spinach, and creamy sauce for a satisfying Italian comfort meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casing removed)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and optional red pepper flakes; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, bringing to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add penne pasta, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes until al dente.
  5. Stir in fresh spinach and Parmesan cheese, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half. Be sure to wash spinach thoroughly before use.
